Bottled Water in Decatur Tx

I was just reading the water quality report for Decatur Tx and found some things that you may want to think about.  First it showed that they had a positive mark for coliform.  It really is not much of a huge concern since all of us breathe coliform because it is naturally occuring.  The concern is what is being used to treat the water that people don't really know about or just don't care.  A couple of things that are used to treat the water so that there is no Coliform, E. Coli or Fecal Coliforms present in the water is Chlorine, Ammonia and Ozone.  The by-products of these disinfection techniques are harmful to the human body and that is why they are regulated by the EPA.  So the reason for this blog is to encourage people to get themselves a Reverse Osmosis System that goes under the kitchen sink.  It makes almost pure water and reduces or removes most of what is in the water.  So you can have bottled quality water at your sink.  That brings me to the next subject, bottled water. I don't always encourage bottled water because you the consumer do not know if the Membrane is doing what it is supposed to as well as the other filters because the bottles of water are being produced at such a huge quanitity they may foul long before they are changed.  If you have the same type of system under your sink you are in control of how often the filters are changed and it can be monitored more closely.  The other thing that needs to be considered is what things in the plastic bottle are being leeched into the water while it is waiting to be consumed?  Now at my house I put my R/O water into my own bottles and usually drink it the same day usually along with some sort of flavoring because I drink so much water that I like to enjoy flavor from time to time.  In order for me to get small bottles of water I still have to buy bottled water at the store and then re-use them even though it is a hassle at times atleast I know I am getting good water in my body.  Bottled water is very handy and can be taken most anywhere but I still like the fact that I know what is going into my bottle before it goes into my body.  Something else you may want to look into is the timing of when we started contracting caner and when we started chlorinating the water.  http://www.nytimes.com/1992/07/01/us/tiny-cancer-risk-in-chlorinated-water.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm      http://www.pure-earth.com/chlorine.html     Here's an interesting view-
"We are quite convinced, based on this study, that there is an association between cancer and chlorinated water." - Medical College Of Wisconsin research team The addition of chlorine to our drinking water began in the late 1800s and by 1904 was the standard in water treatment, and for the most part remains so today. We don’t use chlorine because it’s the safest or even the most effective means of disinfection, we use it because it is the cheapest. In spite of all our technological advances, we essentially still pour bleach in our water before we drink it. The long term effects of chlorinated drinking water have just recently being recognized. According to the U.S. Council Of Environmental Quality, “Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine.”  http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/health-hazards-to-know-about/chlorine-cancer-and-heart-disease

After reading these one would think twice about drinking water out of the faucet unless it is the Reverse Osmosis faucet which is where you will get some of the best water you will ever taste.
